…. if you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it. — Ferris Bueller.
My days are crazy, and I know yours are too. Between training my clients, training myself, juggling my various business ventures, being a good pet mom, learning choreography, writing workout programs, returning texts/emails/etc., and doing what is necessary to prepare for my coming competition season, I don’t have much spare time. Plus, I like to sleep.
So this morning when I didn’t have to be at work till 8:30 a.m., I sat at my kitchen table, sipped some coffee, and looked outside my kitchen window. I wasn’t listening to an educational podcast, scrolling emails, checking my bank balance or browsing Facebook. The house was quiet and I just sat there. A hawk flew overhead. Some trucks drove by. Another small flock of birds passed overhead. Of course, given the state of my life, I also saw a lot of things that need taking care of in my back yard. Limbs down, leaves, that sort of thing.
But mostly, I saw (and felt) how much I like sitting at my kitchen window and looking outdoors. There was no point to what I was doing. No objective. I was just sitting. It was nice, and it left me feeling refreshed.
It didn’t take long — 5 minutes? 10 minutes? It was like a little vacation.
Take a few minutes to stop and look around. You don’t want to miss anything.
