Today, I want to talk about the big festive snow woman in the room: the holidays!
We’re standing in the gateway to one of the most challenging times of the year to stay on track with your fitness and wellness.
You have a choice:
- Option #1: Prioritize your fitness NOW, so you can enjoy the holidays feeling energized and strong.
- Option #2: Put your health on hold until January, promising yourself a fresh start next year (which might mean you’ll feel even farther from your goals by then).
NOTE: Not making a choice is still making a choice. 🙂
The good news? Option #1 isn’t as hard as it might sound! In fact, it’s your ticket to a more enjoyable season. By staying (mostly) on track, you’ll:
- You’ll have more energy to enjoy time with family and friends (or your dogs!)
- You’ll be less likely to fall into a winter “funk” due to inactivity and eating junk food
- And you can still enjoy holiday treats – without the guilt – because you have a solid plan!
Personally, I know that when I skip workouts, my energy drops, my cravings go up, and my mood tanks.
Staying consistent keeps me in a positive headspace and helps me avoid those “wired-tired” end-of-year funks.
Also: This is a GREAT time of year to focus on BUILDING muscle and strength!
All of this might look different for you, but embracing a balanced approach to wellness can make a huge difference this season!
Here’s what’s coming up over the next few weeks:
- Tips for bouncing back after holiday indulgences
- My favorite “lazy” meal prep ideas to keep healthy options on hand
- Easy mindset shifts to help you stay on track as days get busier and nights get longer
PLUS… I just relaunched my online coaching & training app and I’m super excited to be able to deliver workouts, nutrition guidance, and more in one handy place! 🥳💪💃
Let’s make this season one where you feel your best and enjoy every moment—while keeping your health & fitness goals in sight.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: How can I stay fit and energized during the holidays without feeling deprived?
A1: Prioritize small, achievable goals and indulge mindfully. Focus on balancing treats with nutritious meals, staying active, and enjoying each moment without overdoing it. This is one of my favorite times of the year for making strength gains!
Q2: What’s a quick way to recover after holiday gatherings?
A2: Hydrate, prioritize rest, and include light exercise or stretching to get back on track. A balanced meal with protein and vegetables can also help you feel refreshed.
Q3: What are some easy, healthy meal prep ideas for the holidays?
A3: Double up when you cook a meal, so you have leftovers ready to go in the refrigerator. Batch-cooking simple dishes like soups or casseroles is a great way to ensure you have nutritious meals ready. I’m on a potato kick lately so I always have some cooked ones ready to go as a healthy carb for pretty much any meal.
Q4: How can I avoid the holiday “funk” or seasonal fatigue?
A4: Regular activity, a balanced diet, and time outside can help keep energy levels up. Light therapy or vitamin D supplements may also help combat seasonal fatigue… but make sure to talk with your healthcare provider first.
Q5: What does the coaching app offer to help me stay on track?
A5: The app includes custom workouts, nutrition guidance, and wellness tips to help you stay motivated and reach your goals, even during the holiday season.
